This highly anticipated mega project in Hudayriyat Island is headed by developer Modon Properties and will cover over 51 million square metres of land, equivalent to more than half of Abu Dhabi Island. President Sheikh Mohamed and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed stand behind this initiative, pushing it forward.

Abu Dhabi Media Office said in a press release, “Hudayriyat Island is a pioneering project that is the first of its kind for the city in terms of size and area.”

The development will feature multiple residential communities with panoramic views of Abu Dhabi and the sea, as it stands on hills up to 50 metres above ground. It will also have 53.5km of coastline to the city’s landscape, with 16km of beaches. An array of new amenities will also be featured, with priority on sporting facilities such as Velodrome Abu Dhabi, Surf Abu Dhabi, a range of sport, commerce and leisure amenities, the largest urban park in Abu Dhabi and a 220 km-long cycle tracks.

Hudayriyat Island is already known as a popular eco-tourism site home to Bab Al Najoum glamping resort, Marsana Beach, OCR Park, Trail X, Bike Park and 321 Sports, and the development will open major sports centres, keeping its reputation as the adventure playground of Abu Dhabi.

Jassem Al Zaabi, chairman of both Abu Dhabi’s Department of Finance and Modon Properties said, “The Hudayriyat Island development project is a milestone in Abu Dhabi’s journey of innovation and progress as it embodies the city’s futuristic vision for sustainable urban planning, building vibrant communities and developing a diversified economy that boosts the emirate’s competitiveness in all fields.”

Modon Properties will focus on the construction of key infrastructure for the scheme over the next 18 months.
